Post-Solstice events at Sedition
Hey Folks,
It's gonna be a bit quieter at ye olde infoshoppe this week. A slew of the collective and some of our volunteers headed up to Detroit for the US Social Forum. They'll be back next week, but until then be sure to call (713-523-0807) and make sure we are open before trekking over to check out the new books in the library.
We have great news! Tomorrow there will be yet another installment of Dinner and a Movie this time with a great film and good food. And later in the week we are excited to be hosting the good folks from A Ride 'til the End--a bicycle riding posse of Afghan War Vets who are trying to raise the profile of the fight against that unwinnable war. Come out to hear about their protest, the hazards of going AWOL, and to help plan an Anti-War Critical Mass in Houston on July 4th. Yes. In Houston on July 4th.
As always the little infoshop that defies stereotypes of what is possible in Houston could use your help, support, and participation. Drop by the store to get involved or to make a donation or to buy a book.
Sedition Books is still located at 901 Richmond Avenue (That's one block East of Montrose) and you can call or check out our website for more info: 713.523.0807 or www.seditionbooks.org
You can also look for us on facebook or myspace or follow our news on twitter-just search for seditionbooks.
All events are free but we can always use your donations for the infoshop and the touring bands and speakers.

One day, he is arrested on trumped-up charges when his drug dealer is gunned down while talking to him. Ray is put into prison, where two rival gangs - Thug Life and the Union, want to recruit him as a member. Now, he is challenged to continue to use his talent to survive...and to inspire others trapped within the system in and out of prison.

A Ride 'Til the End: A non-stop bike ride protest led by Afghan war veterans is coming to Houston this weekend!
A Ride Till the End aims to raise awareness about the disastrous effects of the war on veterans, Afghan civilians, and US citizens. They believe that the real costs of war for these groups have been purposefully rendered invisible. They see the war in Afghanistan as unwinnable and senseless, a death sentence for thousands of US soldiers and for tens of thousands of Afghan civilians who are caught in the crossfire.
The Ride is hoping to breathe life back into the moribund anti-war movement in the US, and they are doing so from a very radical perspective. They hope to plan an Anti-War Critical Mass for July 4th. If you are interested in helping to plan the ride be sure to come out. Please give them a warm welcome in Houston!
"The main objective of this project is simple. We are trying to locate and collaborate with individuals, groups, and organizations interested in stopping the wars the United States is currently sponsoring. Activities will span across the spectrum of non-violent solutions.
