Late April and May Day events at Sedition
Hey folks,
Hope that you are as excited as we are about May Day. On the International Day of the Worker what better way to commemorate the achievements and ongoing challenges of working people all over the globe than a march for the rights of immigrant workers. Given the recent passage of the US’s most draconian Immigration Law in Arizona, this is a great time to show solidarity with immigrants across the country and right here in Houston.
There are also a slew of other events going on this week that we hope you can come out to at Sedition Books. Tomorrow night we will be hosting our Monthly Dinner and a Movie featuring the film Persepolis. And later in the week, a very important event for the future of Sedition is taking place. We really hope you can come out to our May Day Benefit show at Mango’s. It’s gonna be a blast and we have a slew of creditors that are hoping it is as successful as we do!
Sedition Books is still located at 901 Richmond Avenue (That's one block East of Montrose) and you can call or check out our website for more info: 713.523.0807 or www.seditionbooks.org You can also look for us on facebook or myspace or follow our news on twitter-just search for seditionbooks.
All events are free but we can always use your donations for the infoshop and the touring bands and speakers.
Hey speaking of donations, we recently received a vast mountain of books that were donated by the Rhizome Collective's now defunct radical library in Austin—a sad story but fortunately we were able to save a lot of the books for Sedition’s library. We are hoping that someone out there has a couple of sturdy book shelves we could have to house the new titles. Call the store to arrange pick up or delivery...

Houston Anarchist Black Cross meeting
Houston ABC will have its weekly meeting this Wednesday and they need YOUR help.
This small group of prison abolitionists carries out a pamphlets-to-prisoners project—fulfilling radical literature requests from prisoners across the Southern U.S. every month.
They also distribute Captive Voices, a publication written and edited by and for prisoners.
With more volunteers ABC could take on additional projects, or an expansion of services. Don't forget all those behind the prison walls - join Houston Anarchist Black Cross for their next meeting! Free all political prisoners! Down with the prison industrial complex!

Dinner and a Movie: Persepolis
Come out for a delicious vegan meal and screening of Persepolis!
Based on Marjane Satrapi's autobiographical graphic novel of the same name, Persepolis follows a young girl as she comes of age against the backdrop of the Iranian Revolution. The animated film deals with Communism, religious fundamentalism, imperialism, and travel in the context of 20th century Iran.
A brilliant portrait of Iran during and after the revolution, as well as a wonderful story of a rebellious young girl growing up during an increasingly repressive society.
Dinner to be served at 7-7:30, Movie at eight.
$5.00 suggested donation.
